Battery Ventures Reportedly Invests $160M in Smartling, a Cloud Translation Platform
Battery Ventures reportedly invests $160M in Smartling, a cloud translation platform. According to Business Wire, the investment will be used for product offerings and technological growth. Smartlink provides end-to-end translation solutions for mainly businesses customers.
According to the research, over 361 million people around the world participate in cross-border e-commerce. Investments in the localization sector rapidly grow with globalization and the increasing importance of the content. “Nearly all customers want to buy in their own language,” said Jack Welde, co-founder and CEO of Smartling highlighting the importance of content and localization as one of the main growth drivers for companies.
“Enterprises generally succeed on the strength of technology, supply chains, people, and workflows. As content has become essential to go-to-market strategies, content distribution has in some sense become its own supply chain and workflow. And, as that content supply chain extends globally, translation at scale has become the critical last mile for global enterprise growth”

At Localization Agency, our aim is to create awareness of the importance of content and localization in marketing and to provide the necessary grounds for companies to grow. Thanks to social media, the role of emotions and familiarity in digital marketing is tripled. As a result, customers are no longer satisfied with ‘liking’ the product; they wish for the product or the brand to be able to ‘relate’ with them. At this point, localization comes into play and persuades the viewer that your brand is part of the family.
