As part of external communications of Rixos Hotels intended for international guests visiting Türkiye from abroad to be distributed through various multimedia communication channels, the COVID-19 measures implemented pursuant to a circular coming into force on July 1st, 2020 against hotel guests planning to stay at one of the relevant hotels in Türkiye were translated from Turkish into English.
CHALLENGES
- Reference to local regulations is made which requires effective and transparent communication to the target audience, i.e., international guests visiting from abroad after such regulations have entered into force.
- Factual information as well as on-site hotel procedures for COVID-19 measures in line with applicable regulations needed to be provided in a way which does not leave any room for doubt about the rules of the hotel.
- Such information and procedures are required to be communicated to the guests in an efficient manner by taking into consideration various multimedia channels to be used to convey this warning message.
SOLUTIONS
- The circular on which such internal procedures of the hotel is based was provided as a reference in full with date and number so that guests may refer to it for more information if required.
- COVID-19 measures adopted by the hotel were provided in the target text in a factual and descriptive manner to ensure that the target audience, i.e., guests, can easily follow these guidelines and rules when they check in at the hotel.
- A reader-friendly language was used for effective communication of the message in various multimedia channels.
