In 2021, we were commissioned for translation and localization of the official website of Wellington Drive Technologies Ltd., recently rebranded as AoFrio, from English into Turkish. Within this scope, we were provided with a source text consisting of an Excel file.

CHALLENGES

  • This comprehensive project consisted of translation, localization, and editing of various web pages, menu items, headings, buttons, and footers in addition to other various texts to be published on the website.
  • Although the source text provided additional information on the page and section on which such content would be displayed, there was still limited context in some individual sections as items to be translated were often in the form of one word entries or otherwise some phrases without full sentences. Despite this challenge, the overall context was more comprehensible and was used to overcome certain issues about the context.
  • The website consisted of various sections such as IoT Solutions, Industries, Success Stories, Resources, and About us. Each section has its unique content and style, which require adaptation of the content into the target audience and the local market.
  • Various solutions, including digital solutions, offered by the company contain technical terminology specific to various industries, e.g., refrigeration fan motors, IoT, SaaS, food service, etc., and thus, studying and reviewing such terminology are required.

SOLUTIONS

  • The source text was carefully analyzed in detail to determine the strategies to be used as well as the need for further research on the original content by reviewing the website in its original language. This website review was particularly helpful when it came to better understanding the context as it contained various images and illustrations as visual aids to support the content.
  • Each section of the website was evaluated individually to adapt the content and style in a manner consistent with individual sections. During this process, the target audience and local market requirements and expectations were prioritized and taken into consideration accordingly.
  • Products and digital solutions of the company were reviewed to gain further insight and ensure a more reliable and accurate translation process.
  • Technical terminology was reviewed using various termbases and glossaries specifically created for the relevant industries and market segments.
